2013 VINTAGE

This wine has aromas of jasmine and white flowers, opulent spices, rose petal and banana. The palate of potpourri, lychees and white chocolate is long and lingering with a luscious off dry finish.

“Classically Gewurz-like fruit on the nose with fragrances of lychee, lemon and rose-petal.  There’s wonderful richness and power behind the spiced orange, apricot and currant and a rich, oily texture in the mouth.  Impressive concentration and depth of flavour means this wine should develop even more with complexity with time.  We would love to see this again in a couple of years!”

“Congratulations on taking out the top equal place in the Gewurztraminer section of our latest tasting.  It was tied with a pretty smart example from Alsace at almost twice the price!” – WineNZ Magazine, March 2014.

“This is a beautifully clean wine packed with all the good things that come out of gewurz,” enthused Dan Dineen. “It’s a full, round, luscious and powerful wine, well endowed with exotic pot-pourri and sweet Turkish Delight characters. The perfect match for melt-in-the-mouth pork belly.” – Cuisine  Magazine, February 2014

“Bright straw-yellow colour with light gold-green hues.  This has a full and voluminous nose with waves of rose-petal florals entwined with honey, ginger, spices and musk that unfold revealing exotic detail.  Medium-dry to medium in taste, rich and lush fruit flavours showing exotic florals, ginger and spices form a fulsome and dense core.  The mouthfeel is rounded and soft, but is well-poised and enlivened by excellent acid balance.  The acidity provides a clean and refreshing edge to the wine.  A refined phenolic line along with the lacy acidity guides the concentrated palate to a very long and sustained finish with honey, musk and spice notes.  This is a beautifully balanced, posed, rich and exotic medium Gewurztraminer with density and length.  Serve with pate, Middle Eastern and Chinese fare and semi-hard cheeses over the next 5 years.” – Raymond Chan, May 2014
