We are proud to announce that our Vin de Constance 2014 has been awarded one of only 50 prestigious Best in Show trophies at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2018.

This is in fact the second year in a row that we have taken top honours, with our Vin de Constance 2013 having won the trophy in 2017.

This year’s competition saw a total of 16,903 wines, from all over the world, blind tasted by experts in a particular region or style. The gold medal winners then went on to compete for platinum status, after which a special tasting was conducted to choose the overall Best in Show winners.

The Vin de Constance 2014 received an overall rating of 97 points from the judges, who described it as ‘deep mid-gold in colour, with a thick textured mist of scent hinting at grapes, oranges, honey and beeswax. It’s weighty, sweet, rich, deep and chewy on the palate with ample waxy orange richness balanced by sustained, fruit-saturated acidity. Gratifying, diverting, generous.’

A natural sweet dessert wine made from Muscat de Frontignan, Vin de Constance is a recreation of the ‘sweet luscious and excellent wine of Constantia’ that was world famous during the 18th and 19th centuries. Says Klein Constantia managing director Hans Astrom: ‘As custodians of this legendary wine, we are delighted to see it once again being included among “the best in the world” at the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards.’
